My highlight so far on the Accelerate programme was being introduced to high profile members of the business within the first two days of starting. This gave me a big insight in to what the business is like, what it wants to achieve and how it intends to do so. This also outlined what was expected from us, and when I found out that my first placement was in Staines, one of our new concept stores with a £6m turnover, I was raring to go!
Being an internal candidate, it was my Store Manager that advised me to apply so I started to look into the programme online. I was so excited and I knew it would bring great opportunities. Thankfully I made it, and I’ve never looked back!
I’ve gained a lot of confidence, motivation and knowledge since joining the programme, always wanting to do thebest job I possibly can. I’ve also gained a lot of hands on experience in Retail and Management that I would not have gained from going to University.I’ve built good relationships with the various Store and Regional ManagersI’ve worked with, and I love that I can call them at any time. The greatest relationships I built have been with my fellow Accelerates who I know will always be on the other end of the phone if I need anything, from a question or just to catch up on how we’re getting on withthe programme.
My next steps… I’m about to be signed off as Sales Floor Manager!
