Daisy, 19, Level 2 Dyeing Apprentice Employer: Royal Opera House
6 years ago

I love that I have the freedom to take my time in learning such a specific skill, especially with a skill like dyeing or hand painting. I feel as though it’s the best way to gain an education, especially for niche job fields like mine!

I have only been in my apprenticeship for six months, but I have already learned so much. Every day is different; it’s a constant test of my skills. Every designer we work with has a different style and you have to adapt your own skill to meet their expectations. It can be really challenging, but honestly the experience and the development of my own creativity and skill is irreplaceable.

After my apprenticeship, I really hope that I can stay in the same line of work. It’s a competitive industry and there aren’t a lot of dyer companies out there, but my training and my experience with the Royal Opera House will help me to stand out.
