Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
Lucky for me, I was able to experience some of what university was like before I started my apprenticeship. Once I started University, (for not all the right reasons) I knew very soon after that it wasn’t for me. So, I began searching deeper into apprenticeships that I thought I would enjoy as a career path, while still in university. I’ve always loved everything and anything to do with Film and pretty much knew I wanted to work in the film industry, which then led me to find Warner Media!
One other reason I chose to do an apprenticeship is because I was more of a practical student, (which Is probably most people doing an apprenticeship) wanting to do tasks that would lead to results being made. For example, making and editing videos, creating projects to raise money for school/charity etc… Deciding to do an apprenticeship I knew would allow me to be more creative, active and hands on in a sector I enjoy most.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
One thing I enjoy most about my apprenticeship role is having the privilege of watching pre-release films in our office cinema. I enjoy this because as a team we can have interesting, fun conversations about this afterwards. While also, going on to talk about other things going on at the time in the film entertainment world at the time.
What has been your highlight so far?
My highlight so far would be working on The Suicide Squad from start to finish, and having this film be such a great success afterwards this felt somewhat rewarding. As a company we also work closely with external vendors who work on these film projects with us. I had the opportunity to be able to visit our vendors, to watch and listen to the different versions of The Suicide Squad being mixed. Which was done for multiple countries dubbing, this was such a great experience to be part of and learn more about.

What advice would you give to people thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
If you’re thinking of doing an apprenticeship my advice would be to just GO FOR IT! It’s really all what it’s hyped up to be, if you have your eye on a few that you may be interested in I’d suggest trying to get a head start on applying as soon as you can. As spots can be taken up very quickly especially if it’s linked with a great company like Warner Media. Also don’t be disheartened if you don’t get an apprenticeship that you really wanted just to keep persevering and the right one for you will eventually come along.
I also took a gap year after I finished sixth form to really take time out and think about what I wanted to do next. So beforehand, I suggest whether it’s doing an Apprenticeship or going to university, your making sure it’s 100% what you yourself wants to do. P.s pick a course that you will enjoy doing as a lot of time is put into the course as well as the job role.
