Alex Lawrence - CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice

I began studying the CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice when I was 19 years old and haven’t looked back. Before studying with CILEx, I had completed my Level 2 and 3 Business Administration NVQs. I also achieved 4 AS levels at sixth form but decided not to continue on to A levels studies as I had no plans or desire to go to university.

I first got into law when I applied to be a legal secretary in a busy Conveyancing department of a solicitors' firm, where I still work. I heard about the CILEx route through my work colleagues as they had previously qualified through CILEx or are also currently studying through distance learning at CILEx Law School.

I am fortunate enough that my employer is funding the CILEx course for me. Studying with CILEx Law School has given me an opportunity to study something I am interested in as well as getting a legal qualification.

I would definitely recommend the CILEx route to anyone looking to take a different career route, or break their way into legal work as it is a great opportunity and beneficial in the long term.
