Weight Training –v- Cardiovascular

So now we are in thesummer season this question arises time and time again, 'What’s the best way to lose weight?' This is something we deal with more and more in society, whether it comes down to how people think they should look; or the way it is portrayed to what is acceptable, beautiful and all round sexy to fit in those nice clothes for the partner of your dreams.

With this in mind I decided to do some further research to bust some myths about what training is better to achieve all those dreams......

To achieve this I felt it was important to go into this with an open mind and look purely at what evidence was provided out there rather than listening to people’s opinions: I mean I have heard it all, from muscle mass gives better metabolism (limited evidence) to cardio will cause cancer (not if your diet is correct). So what is the truth to this?

From what I have found around this subject, it shows that neither one is better for you than the other. It shows that both weight training and cardiovascular training aid weight loss but this comes down to diet, and the style in which you train, not what method you use to do this.

What I have found is that one main training style keeps arising, and this is high intensity interval training(HIIT).This however does not stipulate what type ofHIIT training is supposedly beneficial for you, and this could open up another whole can of worms to be discussed another day……….

In conclusion to my findings around this subject it is that training needs to be periodised so that you follow a set plan, and something is always better than nothing. By following a balanced process that includes all components of fitness, with all your training styles, will NOT ONLY MAKE YOU LOOK BETTER but WILL also make you live longer and feel healthier. Training is individual and one size never fits all!!!!!!!!!
