Spirit Pubs’ Apprentices In The News Again
4 years ago

Following on from Monday's story concerning Spirit pubs' plans to place an apprentice in each of its pubs, one of the company's employees has been named the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year.

At the Hospitality Guild's Apprenticeship Awards 2012, held at the House of Commons, 19-year-old Charlotte Bonser, deputy manager of Spirit's Polite Vicar pub in Basford, said she was thrilled to have been recognised at the awards

Working with training provider Charnwood Training Group, Charlotte has, since last year, completed her Level 2 Apprenticeship in Food & Beverage Service, as well as a BII cellar management qualification.

She now has her personal license and is undertaking an Apprenticeship in Team Leading, now she's managing a team of 30 people.

Award-winning Charlotte will be taking time out for a week's career development work experience in Mayfair's luxury five-star Westbury Hotel.

Chief Executive Officer for the Spirit Pub Company, Mike Tye, says: "Charlotte is a prime example of what you can achieve within Spirit, and we are extremely proud of her. Our apprenticeship scheme is going from strength to strength creating a great team that strive to be the best."

Charnwood's training officer Tina Robinson, who has been working with Charlotte since she started with Spirit, says: "I'm so pleased for Charlotte - she truly deserved to win this award. She's always eager to learn and develop her skills and is an absolute pleasure to work with. It's been great to watch her gain in confidence over the last year and I'm sure this win will only serve to reinforce that she has a bright future ahead of her."

And Charlotte herself says: "I am so excited to have won - I absolutely love my job and to receive an award for something I love to do is amazing!"
