Online learning specialist Resource Development International (RDI), is celebrating 20 years in business by launching a new degree sponsorship programme with the University of Wales. The scheme will provide five free places on selected degree courses via online learning for successful applicants.
The initiative has also been launched in response to the growing number of students who either cannot afford to go to university due to the high cost associated with traditional campus study, or wish to study flexibly, while juggling a career or family commitments. Potential students will be able to choose from a University of Wales degree course in business, business finance, business banking or business marketing.
All potential applicants have to do is submit a 400 word personal statement or two minute video of themselves to RDI (entry details can be found at explaining why they should be the one to receive a free place on their preferred degree programme.
Dr Philip Hallam, chief executive of RDI, comments: We decided to launch our degree sponsorship programme in 2010 as a celebration for our 20th anniversary. We know from our current students that more and more want to adopt a modern and flexible online approach to studying their degree which fits with their lifestyle and allows them to remain in employment rather than incurring the high debts associated with traditional campus-based study. Most people still don't know that they can study for a real university degree by online distance learning. Although gaining a degree via online learning is only fraction of the cost of campus based study, the aim of our sponsorship scheme is to encourage those, including school leavers, who perhaps have never considered university, to get a degree education. So we welcome applicants from all walks of life perhaps you would like a degree to further your career, or you may have been made redundant, or you missed out on a degree the first time around.Most people over 21 are qualified to begin a degree and don't even know it! We will review all applications equally.
Interested applicants will need to fill in RDI's standard application form as well as submit their bespoke personal statement by 15th February 2010. Dr Philip Hallam continues: The degrees we are offering are from the University of Wales - the second largest degree-awarding body in the United Kingdom, with HRH Prince of Wales as Chancellor.
