Rdi Announce Free Degree Competition Winner
4 years ago

Early this year RDI and notgoingtouni.co.uk joined forces to offer one lucky student the opportunity to study their university degree for FREE by distance learning – saving a potential £27,000 in tuition fees compared to campus study.

With Higher Education, and specifically the value of campus study, under a great deal of public scrutiny, it’s not surprising that there were an overwhelming number of applications for this unique prize.

Following a rigorous and closely contested judging process, RDI are pleased to announce that the winner of the fully funded degree is Rose Mortimore from Plymouth.

Rose decided to apply after starting at sixth form college immediately after school and finding that full-time education wasn’t suited to her. She took on a Business Apprenticeship at the age of 18, and after progressing her career on her own merits and through hard work, at the age of 23 she is now a PR & Communications Officer.

Rose continues to say “I do believe that taking the ‘traditional’ route to achieving a degree by going to university is something that will always be a popular option for young people. However, I also feel strongly that it is not the only route to higher education and success in the workplace. Often distance learning, particularly degree-level, can be seen as something done later on in life. I would be honoured to be an inspiring example that it can be done whilst working and show that it is a fantastic option for anyone of any age who is committed and resourceful, and has the dedication to study and the desire to learn.”

On hearing the great news, Rose stated: “I am absolutely delighted to have been selected, really really excited! Thank you so much for this opportunity.”

We look forward to following Rose’s progress on her degree course and you can too! Rose will be updating use on her studies with regular blogs and updates published on the RDI website
