Qa Traineeships: Suleiman’s Story

Suleiman AllySuleiman Ally, 18, talks about how his QA Traineeship as boosted his core skills in IT, Maths and English.

On the first week of my QA Traineeship, I learnt the foundations of IT, which included the components of a computer and its functions, as well as health & safety in the working environment. By the second week with my tutor Ying, we had already started producing a digital personal portfolio using HTML, which I found difficult at first but then after learning a few lines of code I found it to be reasonably easily.

At the beginning of my QA Traineeship, we highlighted our strengths and weaknesses which helped in identifying areas for improvement. I found that I needed to work on my ability to communicate with others and to improve my presentation skills. The suggestions made by my class members and mentor were useful and have helped me progress in this aspect.

With my tutor Sylwia we were given tasks in Maths and English to refresh and improve our skills in these subjects. Even though I have completed Maths at GCSE it was good to refresh these skills for the working world. I personally hadn’t completed an English qualification before, so I worked hard to achieve my English grade, which I have now passed!
