Course:NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services.

Placement Company:Fusion People Training.

Job Title:Learning & Development Co-ordinator.

When did you start? & How did your career progress?I started my apprenticeship with Fusion People Training in October 2011. I was hired to support the business development team which involved me calling and interviewing potential candidates for apprenticeship positions, gradually over my time at Fusion People I have progressed and moved into the admin and delivery team. This change in direction was the result of the development of our virtual learning environment FusionMoodle; the Moodle I designed, built and created interactive material to make learning fun for our apprentices. It has been a great, interesting and knowledgeable journey I have made since the beginning of the programme and I am now happily a permanent employee.

Why did you choose Fusion People Training?I applied for an apprenticeship with Fusion People Training through Not Going to Uni. They were very quick to process my application and I was invited in for an interview within a matter of days. On my first visit to the office I was provided with a vast amount of information that I found very useful and the employees very helpful and friendly. They made me feel comfortable throughout the process which is why I decided to choose Fusion People Training as my training provider and also accept a job offer with them.

What is a normal day at the office like?:Everyday at Fusion People Training can be very different with new challenges to overcome, making the job exciting and I’m still learning. I do have regular duties that are mainly admin based however I can be attending technology fairs, supporting assessors on their visits or be organising training sessions for apprentices. I am the Apprenticeship Ambassador for the Fusion People Team which means my duties stretch to promoting the Apprenticeship programme to young learners in schools or colleges as well. The team are all very friendly and supportive which makes the office somewhere I enjoy working.

What would your advice be for anyone who wants to become an apprentice?:Being an apprentice I have gained a vast amount of experience, it has given me the opportunity to develop a career and I have got a qualification at the same time! Becoming an apprentice is a fantastic experience as the transition into the working and professional environment is made a lot easier with the support given from the Fusion team and my assessor. I believe the apprenticeship programme can be very beneficial as a starting point for a career, so my advice for anyone thinking about becoming an apprentice would be to do it as you can gain so much but be prepared to work hard!
