The College’s first team were clearly the better side and 1-0 up throughout after a fabulous goal from Kerim Raies, but conceded in the last minute after Waltham Forest scored an equalising goal.
The College’s team fought hard in extra time, which remained goalless and went to penalties. The squad remained calm under pressure and the goalkeeper, Dimitar Karov, pulled off two astonishing saves, enabling the team to achieve their 3 -1 victory. The 3 penalties were scored by Dereece Oakley, Rooney Kwayke and Kerim Raies.
The whole squad was a hugely impressive credit to the College and to Leyton Orient FC. The College’s Academy team faces their next game in the National Premier Cup in the new year and a win here will take them through to the Quarter Final!
Other impressive wins in the ECFA league include the Football Academy’s Third Team’s staggering 8-1 win against Sir George Monoux on 3 December. The College’s Third Team will face The Harefield Academy on 17 December.
Kurt Hintz, Vice Principal for Curriculum and Learner Experience, said: “The College’s Football Academy is really going places under the guidance and leadership of Leyton Orient Football Club. All young men and women who are interested in combining their studies with football should come along to the next trial in February and see just how good it is for themselves. The combination of fantastic coaching, great teaching and first class facilities can’t be matched.”
