The Police Officer has been allocated full-time to the College’s Tottenham site by the Borough Commander, Dr Victor Olisa - and the post is being funded by the Haringey Police Service. Matt Kyriakides’ role will help to build trust and mutual respect with College learners, which is vital for effective community policing.

A serving officer for six years, Police Officer Matt Kyriakides said: “I believe that having a Police Officer on site is a great way to overcome any potential barriers and to serve our local even more effectively.”

As part of his role at the College, Officer Kyriakides will be hosting a series of workshops on issues such as personal safety, knife crime and any other related matters that learners want to discuss.

Officer Kyriakides has also given talks to the College’s Public Services students many of whom hope to work in uniformed service when they graduate.

Director of Quality and Learner Support, Jane Clarke added: “We take the safety and wellbeing of our learners extremely seriously and we are delighted that the Haringey Police Service is funding this post. Having a uniformed officer on site is a great way to build trust between the police and the College community.”
