Apprentice Supermarket, the not-for-profit organisation helping young unemployed people to develop work skills, has extended its relationship with UK-wide delivery firm Yodel, which delivers more than 150 million parcels each year for many of the UK's top retailers.
Originally, Yodel and Apprentice Supermarket teamed up in May 2012, giving young people the chance to sharpen their telemarketing skills to generate new sales leads.
That project gave apprentices the chance to gain valuable work experience, complement their NVQs in Logistics and give their CVs a boost.
As a result, Yodel secured many new client contracts which added another 400,000 parcels a year to their delivery schedule.
Building on the success of last year’s project, Apprentice Supermarket and Yodel have committed to working together in 2013.
Yodel's Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Fisher, says: “Engaging with Apprentice Supermarket has enabled us to take our service proposition to a broad but targeted audience and secure valuable new business leads.
"It has also supported the communities in which we operate by providing training opportunities for young apprentices, giving them the experience they need to get a firm foothold on the career ladder.
"After encouraging successes in 2012, we are delighted to extend our working relationship into 2013.”
Managing Director of Apprentice Supermarket, Andrew Kunman, adds: “We are delighted to secure the contract with Yodel and the valuable learning experiences it brings to our apprentices.”
