Our Professional Workshops are the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your skillset and learn more about studying at Pearson College London.
Similar to an assessment centre, the Online Professional Workshop consists of three elements:
• A Watson Glaser Test that measures critical thinking
• A Written Assignment that measures analytical thinking, problem-solving, organising, and learning agility
• A Virtual Interview which is our chance to meet you and find out your motivations for applying for the scheme
Performing well at the Professional Workshop can be difficult, which is why we’ve put together our top five tips to help you succeed!
1. Prepare your environment
Completing the Professional Workshop in an online setting means that you will need to make sure your environment is suitable for a live interview. We recommend completing your interview in a quiet and well-lit area. It’s also key to make sure that your area is tidy as there’s nothing more distracting than a messy background! The focus should be on you and all the amazing things you have to say.
2. Test your tech
Just like the last tip, you need to make sure that you have tested your technology. It’s best to complete your written assignment and the Watson Glaser test as early as possible to help mitigate any unexpected issues. We give our applicants one week to complete all aspects of the Professional Workshop so there is plenty of time to get them submitted. It’s also a good idea to join the live interview at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time so you can test your camera and microphone.
3. Review all instructions
The contents of the Professional Workshop can be a lot to take in which is why it’s important to ensure that you’ve understood what is expected. It’s essential to read through all the documents our Admissions Team sends you as soon as possible and if you do have any questions be sure to contact us in advance of the deadline.
4. Practice makes perfect
This is a cliché but it’s very true! To perform at your best ability, you should fit in some practice. Our Admissions Team will provide you with some practice questions for the Watson Glaser Test that you can have a go at. We also recommend that you prepare for some commonly asked questions, so you won’t be at a loss for words when it comes to the interview. Although you can’t get practice questions for the written assignment, it will help to make sure that your spelling and grammar are up to check.
5. Communicate well
Communicating in a virtual setting can be slightly different from communicating face-to-face. As you won’t be in the same room as your interviewer, it’s important to look at your camera and speak clearly to ensure they get every word. You should also demonstrate positive body language, so if possible, try to sit on a straight back chair and refrain from crossing your arms or slouching. By adopting these techniques, you will come across as really engaged which will reflect well on your Interviewer.
