“I feel like a sponge here. I just get knowledge from everyone.”
In Sixth Form, I did A Levels in Maths, Physics and Biology. I took a gap year, when I worked in retail, because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. After that year I decided I wanted to do an apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce.
On my programme, you spend one year in the workshop learning foundation engineering skills through hands on experience. Then you take six-month placements around the business learning in different areas such as design engineering, life cycle engineering, development engineering. It means at the end of the apprenticeship you have a lot of experience, and you get to choose what you want to do.
