Elena Richards - Engineering Degree Apprentice
10 months ago

“It’s a massive community and everyone is there to help you learn.”

I took A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Computer Science. Then I applied to Rolls-Royce. On the Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, I spent a year in the workshop learning practical engineering skills like welding, milling, turning, fitting and electrical. After this, you move into the business doing day-to-day work like every other engineer.

The company is massive and does everything from development, to designing and modelling ¬– all the cool things that come with engineering. Although my job is more office-based, I’ve gained experience in the practical side of engineering and I love doing what I do.
