Amelia – Visitor Experience Apprentice

Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Amelia, and I am a Visitor Experience Apprentice at the Warner Bros Studio Tour. I am 19 years old and have been working at the tour now for over a year. Before this, I was a college student studying Level 3 Business studies and worked at Argos for two years, starting off as a Customer Advisor and then promoted to a Responsible colleague.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

From very early on I knew that I wasn’t interested in going to university. All the way through secondary school and college, I struggled to find a subject and job I was interested in. I always liked the idea of getting into apprenticeship as I felt I was more suited to it.  and I thought it would give me more of an idea of what career path I would like to go into. When I saw the apprenticeship online, I was so excited to apply as I loved Harry Potter and always wanted to work there.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

The thing I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is that I get to try new things as I work in different departments. Working in 4 different roles has helped develop my interpersonal skills, build my knowledge of customer service, and gave me the chance to work with people all around the world.

What has been your highlight so far?

My highlight so far is getting involved in all the opportunities Warner Bros. offer. This ranges from staff activities and incentives to movie screenings. Working with other people has also been one of my highlights as I love working as a team and I love to meet new people.

What obstacles have you encountered and overcome during your apprenticeship?

What I have found most challenging is balancing the work and college work, though if I was ever stuck, I knew I could speak out to my team leaders and managers to get the support that I needed.

What advice would you give to people looking to do an apprenticeship?

If you are thinking of doing an apprenticeship I 100% recommend it. If you are unsure on what career path you would like to follow, an apprenticeship gives you so many more ideas. You are working in a real job with training and more support, and even if you decide it’s not what you want to do in the future, you are working towards a qualification which can get you to other places.
