A brand new children’s play centre in Southampton has fulfilled its most unusual vacancy yet following a region-wide job search.
The new Wacky Warehouse, located at the Netley Grange - formerly known as the Mill House - on Grange Road in Netley Abbey, has appointed Tallulah Ball, aged 7, to the position of ‘Director of Play’, who opened the indoor play centre on Monday 24 June.
The play centre asked applicants up to the age of 12 years old to explain why they would be the best candidate for the job. Tallulah was selected following her impressive entry, in which she stated: “I would make a fantastic Director of Play for the Netley Grange because I love playing with other children in soft play areas and like making new friends. I am very good at making sure other children have a good time and play safely!”
Tallulah’s job included trying out every element of the new site, which includes giant ball pits, cargo nets, astro slides and aerial runs, giving it her official seal of approval.
As part of her appointment, Tallulah was given a one-off pocket money payment of £100 in return for officially opening the new Wacky Warehouse, as well as a party for up to 10 of her friends to play and eat for free. She was also rewarded with a Wacky VIP Gold Card, which entitles her to unlimited access to the play centre for 12 months.
Jason Brodie-Browne, general manager at the new Wacky Warehouse, said: “We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of entries we received for our fun new position, but Tallulah’s obvious enthusiasm and sense of adventure made her stand out from the crowd.
“It was her job to ensure that all our equipment was up to scratch and fun for children of all ages, including toddlers, as the Wacky Warehouse will also boast a safe toddler-friendly area with squishy, squashy shapes for little ones.
