I am a marketing apprentice, currently working in the Sky Cinema and Store team. I primarily work on Sky Store in the C&P team. My projects consist of email campaigns, such as the Lapsing and Freeloader trigger, which is sent to customers, offering them a percentage off their next buy-and-keep movie.
I also work across PPC by briefing assets and approving Ad Copy before they go live across multiple social media platforms.
I am very fortunate to be on such an exciting team at Sky, where I have had many opportunities to immerse myself in the corporate world of media. This has allowed me to work on exciting new film releases for Sky Store and attend some extraordinary events like the BASE Awards.
At Sky, there are always opportunities to make a difference. At Christmas, my wider team (content products) came together to donate items to a local charity kitchen in Ealing, which a wonderful member of my team organised.
During my time at Sky, I immediately found the drive across teams to constantly develop, innovate and improve our services and products. I have even applied this to the email campaigns I have been working on recently, which we have been reviewing to maximise engagement and customer satisfaction.
As an apprentice, it can be daunting to enter such a large-scale company and feel like the youngest one there. However, I never felt judged or uncomfortable, and my team accepted me immediately. I always feel included in meetings, tasks, and socials, so it has been a positive environment in which I have improved weekly.
Seeing the number of women in lead roles sharing their inspiring career paths has also been really empowering. Also, working in such a beautiful office with so much outdoor space & different places to work is refreshing, especially when you need a change of scenery or fancy trying something new!
My favourite takeaway from my apprenticeship is the confidence it has given me. Despite being at such a massive company and fresh into the marketing world, I feel very valued and heard.
I have genuinely found comfort in being myself and sharing my ideas.
