Weapon Systems Operator

Salary: During training= £25,000 + (& Benefits). 


After Direct Entrant SNCO Course= £39,394 + (& Benefits).


Annual pay after training= £49,201 (& Benefits).

Do you want to work on the front line of defence for the RAF? Do you want to be responsible for the operation and control of aircraft systems, whilst using your skills to gather intelligence and support troops on the ground?

As a Weapon Systems Operator, you will have the unique opportunity to fly and work on board aircraft, and will receive specialist training enabling you to perform to the best of your ability. There are three specialist roles you could be employed in:

Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR): As a Weapon Systems Operator on the ISR pathway you will work with monitoring and communications equipment to derive tactical and strategic intelligence. This intelligence is crucial in supporting the war fighter and military commanders. Weapon System Operators (ISR) operate across the full range of RAF Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Radar platforms and can expect to be employed in tasks which range from protecting the country against maritime threats to Control of the Air and a myriad of tasks in between. There are various specialist routes that you can take in your career, all roles are vital in protecting the security of the UK and her allies, directly providing real-time intelligence support to the battlespace.

Rotary Wing (RW): Operating alongside the aircraft pilots , managing troops and cargo, assisting with aircraft navigation and protecting the aircraft through operation of the weapon systems.

Multi Engine (ME): Monitoring air-to-air refuelling systems or looking after troops and cargo going all over the world, ensuring compliance with international aviation regulations, or dispatching troops and cargo for airborne delivery.

Requirements

-Be aged 17.5 - 28 years of age

-GCSE grade C / 4 or above in; English language, Maths and three other subjects

-UK citizen or dual/UK holder

-Pass the Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre (OASC)

-Health requirements: BMI and Eye sight checks

-Fitness requirements: 2.4km run, Multi-stage fitness test, Press-up & Sit-ups plus a Swimming Test.
