Transformation Office
The Transformation Office (TO) is at the heart of change and transformation at the BBC! We oversee the project and change management profession (all 300+ colleagues in the organisation). Within the TO we run some of the most strategic and transformational of the BBC’s programmes – including Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion, increasing our presence across the UK and the Future of the BBC.
We work closely with colleagues right across the organisation – as well as running programmes of our own. We provide support and help resolve tricky situations and also have our own Continuous Improvement consultancy team (Spark) who support teams and functions the length and breadth of the Beeb. Your role as an apprentice would be really varied and we will try and ensure that you experience everything from working on one of the BBC’s most important programmes, reporting to the Operations Committee and ExCo, and helping improve the processes and impact of key audience-facing teams.

What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?
As a Project Manager apprentice, you will be introduced to the specialist subject of Project Management. You will gain real life Project Management experience working alongside experienced Project Management professionals across the BBC. You’ll get involved in a range of activities that could include learning about the inner workings of an organisation and how to manage people, projects, and operations for long term success; strategic decision making and leading a team. You may also contribute to live projects, within the BBC that have a real impact across the corporation and a range of departments.
By supporting various business teams across the BBC and gaining hands-on experience, you will continually develop your business and project management skills, enhancing your understanding of key issues in business, technology, project and people management, allowing you to consider how issues within the workplace impact an organisation.
What will you be studying?
You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor-led workshops, tutorial sessions, practical and library-based research, presentations, group work and real-world simulated projects.
The overall programme is split into 3 levels of learning that you will work through during your apprenticeship and will focus on the following:
The final stage and assessment will be an integrated End Point Assessment (EPA)
You will be working towards a BSc (Hons) Level 6 degree in Project Management. You will also attain an industry-recognised APM Project Management qualification (APM PMQ). In addition, on successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for full membership to APM (Association of Project Managers).

Where could the role take you?
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Project Coordinator, Business Assistant or Business Coordinator, both inside and outside of the BBC.
This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed-term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme is 48 months.
