About The Role
As a Project Controls Apprentice your role will include supporting the four key areas of Project Controls – Cost Engineering, Planning, Estimating and, Risk. Whilst rotating through various programmes around the business, you will gain an understanding of:
Project Breakdown Structures – Cost; Work; Organisational
Schedule Development - Schedule Quality, Cost and Duration estimating, interactive planning sessions
Baseline Management - Creating and Maintaining Project Baselines
Performance Measurement and Analysis
Business Rhythm - Month End Reporting and Analysis
Cost Forecasting
Variance Analysis
As an apprentice you will initially be based within the Skills Academy for induction, where you will develop your basic knowledge and people skills, before progressing on to the onsite aspect of your training. At this point you will start to develop and apply your core skills on placement in a live working environment. In addition to the vocational aspects of your training, we will further your knowledge of project controls through academic studies as you work towards the completion of your certificate.

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Maths and English
2 A-levels preferred, not mandatory
Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of 31st August 2025 due to security clearance requirements

These roles are governed by Health and Safety at Work Regulations and require all candidates to have an Occupational Health pre-employment medical held at AWE which follows the initial selection process. All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
