Production Chef Apprentice - Butler's Tea Room

Summary

Butlers Tea Room in Cusworth are looking for an aspiring chef to join our friendly team. As an Apprentice chef, you are responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food which is delivered to our customers in the tearoom.

Training course Production chef (level 2)

Hours Shifts are to be confirmed. At Butlers Tea Room the earliest you could be asked to work is 8.30am and we usually finish at 4.30pm/5.00pm. If you are going to work 6 hours or more you are entitled to a 30 mins (unpaid) break. 22 hours a week

Duration: 1 year 4 months

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an Apprentice Chef, you are responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food which is delivered to our customers in the tearoom. An Apprentice Chef will also be required to undertake all reasonable duties as assigned by the Head Chef and owners. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards

The successful applicant will be working in a busy restaurant/cafe environment and duties will include:

  • To show a willingness to learn and desire to succeed within the industry.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy station.
  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the highest standard.
  • Comply with and have full knowledge of regulations regarding Health and Safety.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties that may be assigned by the Head chef or Tea room owners.
  • Complete all aspects of the training programme.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Training

  • You will undertake Production Chef Level 2 standard
  • Functional Skills for English and/or Maths if needed. 

You will undertake both on and off the job training by a team of industry qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge, and experience.

Other requirements

You must be able to travel to and from work and college. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Butlers Tea Room is a family business which opened in the Summer of 2012. Our tea room is set in the stables & coach house of the popular 18th century​country house, Cusworth hall.
