Overview:
The Network Support Engineers are responsible for supporting our network infrastructure and ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the internal and public-facing network services.
As a Network Engineer Apprentice, you will work within a team of network specialists and engineers, where you will support a wide range of network infrastructure services and devices. You will deliver support, troubleshoot network issues, assist with project delivery, and collaborate with senior team members and contractors. You will also undertake a Network Engineer Level 3 Apprenticeship with QA
Salary: £28,842 per annum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, respond to, and resolve network incidents and problem tickets escalated to you.
- Ensure network services are available, and resolutions are delivered within SLA’s.
- Work with third parties to provide network infrastructure services.
- Assist technical architects and senior network engineers with project delivery.
- Successfully complete modules, assessments, and exams for the Network Engineer apprenticeship.
- Attend full-time work with the Agency in accordance with the training schedule agreed with QA.
What we are looking for:
Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Experience with networking concepts and basic troubleshooting
- Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
- Familiarity with router, switch, and firewall configurations
Desirable Skills:
- Basic experience with network diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, Wireshark)
Technical
Essential Criteria:
- A basic understanding of network infrastructure and how to troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Familiarity with the configuration of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Understanding of IP addressing and subnetting
Desirable Skills:
- Understanding of VLANs and network segmentation
Entry Requirements:
- 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Contract:
- 20 month - FTC
- 37 hours a week, Monday-Friday
- Location: When working from the office and depending on the need, you will be required to work at one our London sites in E14 4PH or EN6 3QG
- Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days. PLUS 8 bank holidays
- Privilege Leave: 1 day
Future Prospects:
Whilst this can not be guaranteed, apprentices are welcome to apply for a permanent position once they have successfully completed their apprenticeship.
