IT Technical Engineer Apprentice

Apprentice Technical Engineer Job Description

This is an ideal opportunity for those wanting to learn about all the functions of an IT Support Role. Learning a variety of tasks including, customer service and interpersonal skills. The role will encompass all aspects of IT support.

Westwood Associates is an established IT supplier of computer hardware, software and services (trading for over 35 years) to the business sector as well as education establishments. We provide consultancy to customers wanting to improve their IT infrastructure and take pride in building relationships with our customers.

Day-to-day Activity: 

  • Speaking to customers.
  • Taking 1st Line support calls and logging them
  • Installing and repairing hardware from laptops to servers
  • To assist in development of Westwood’s Sales offerings in the technical team.
  • Achieving given targets and to work with self-driven motivation and professionalism.
  • To work as part of the Westwood team and be a team player.

What does it take to do this job?

  • Some IT skills are desirable with a keenness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and problem solve.
  • Able to work well under pressure and show a willingness to learn/develop
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Confident on the telephone
  • Shows good attention to detail

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
