IT Support Technician Apprentice

Employer description:

Centro Systems Ltd is a one-stop shop for everything IT. We provide hardware, software, IT support, and—uniquely—we are also an independent Internet Service Provider (ISP). That means our clients get a full-service solution without needing multiple suppliers. Whether it’s broadband, email hosting, domain management, or cloud services, we handle it all in-house.

We pride ourselves on fast, friendly, and efficient support. Our customers rely on us to keep their systems running smoothly, and we rely on our team to deliver that service with professionalism and care.

Overview:

We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic apprentice to join our first line support team. This is an entry-level opportunity, perfect for someone who wants to start a career in IT—even if you’ve only dabbled with computers or helped family and friends with tech problems before. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers experiencing IT issues. Your main job is to log, assess, and resolve common problems where possible, or escalate them to more experienced technicians when needed.

You will learn how to:

  • Troubleshoot basic network issues, such as slow internet or no connection.
  • Help users connect to VPNs and remote systems.
  • Reset passwords and unlock accounts.
  • Solve printer problems and local hardware issues.
  • Use ticketing systems to manage and track fault reports.
  • Support customers over the phone and via email with patience and professionalism.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand these terms yet—we’ll teach you everything you need to know. You’ll be supported every step of the way!

Desirable skills:

You don’t need any formal IT qualifications to apply, but you do need:

  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • A confident telephone manner and good communication skills.
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent timekeeping.
  • Ideally, a full UK driving licence (or working towards one).

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

For more information please visit the UK ENIC website.

Working hours:

Monday to Thursday 9am – 5pm, Friday 9am – 4pm

Benefits:

  • On-the-job training with real-world experience.
  • Support and mentoring from senior technicians.
  • Experience across a wide range of IT and internet services.
  • A structured apprenticeship pathway leading to recognised qualifications.

Future prospects:

The chance to grow into a permanent position after the apprenticeship.
