IT And Engineering Apprentice

What is the role?

Key tasks & accountabilities

Internal IT

  • Carrying out 1st line support and initial triage on all IT & telephony issues for dbfb staff. To include updating relevant ticket on steps taken, solution implemented and/or reason for escalation when not resolved.
  • Configure new equipment prior to issue.
  • Clear down and reset equipment from leavers and/or end of life devices ensuring ready for redeployment or disposal.
  • Maintain records of dbfb assets and equipment assigned to users.

Customer facing tasks

  • Set-up and configure new IT equipment prior to dispatch.
  • Set-up and configure routers for new connectivity installations (for example SoGEA) prior to dispatch including working with Projects team to obtain all required information and ensuring said equipment is available within agreed timeframes.
  • Set-up and configure LAN equipment and end user devices.
  • Work alongside Engineering team to provide support and assistances to Support team.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday (between our operating hours of 8am to 6pm)
