Overview / Guide to what a Data & Analytics Apprentice does at Cybit: 
The Data & Analytics Apprentice will support our internal & client requirements working with technologies such as Qlik, Talend and Microsoft. You’ll assist our clients in a variety of sectors, to allow them to obtain a deeper understanding of their business while helping internal teams generate insights into our operations.

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum.

Duties: [will include:] 

  • Learning about Data & Analytics through team engagement, our vendors and official learning resources
  • Delivering elements of internal projects to build data assets and visualisations to drive operational improvements
  • Supporting client projects alongside other team members by applying data engineering techniques around ETL, data warehousing and data quality
  • Producing demonstration platforms for our focus industry solutions
  • Employing advanced data technologies including machine learning techniques to enrich existing data assets
  • Keeping up to date with technology advancements with hands-on learning and show & tell engagements with other team members

What we are looking for: 
Desirable skills: 

  • Basic understanding of data: A grasp of core concepts like T-SQL and a visualisation technology like Qlik or Power BI
  • Experience with CRM platforms: As they'll be supporting a sales team, some experience with Customer Relationship Management software could be useful 

Personal qualities:

  • Eagerness to learn: This is an apprenticeship, so a strong desire to gain knowledge and develop skills is crucial 
  • Adaptability: Data & Analytics is broad constantly evolving, so someone who can keep up with new trends and technologies will be successful 
  • Strong work ethic: This role will require someone who is reliable, hardworking, and can meet deadlines 
  • Communication skills: They should be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, both verbally and in writing 
  • Teamwork: The ability to collaborate effectively with the Data & Analytics sales & delivery teams is essential 
  • Interest in Data & Analytics: A natural curiosity about data and its role in business would be essential 

Entry requirements:

Standard entry:

  • Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship/A-levels/BTEC, etc)
  • OR equivalent work experience (typically two years in a relevant role)

Plus:

  • 5 GCSE's, including English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above 
  • Experience with using Excel and Microsoft products (or similar)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Future prospects:

  • Data Consultant: A natural progression would be into a consulting role which would be more focussed on customer delivery. This has grades moving from Junior to Senior levels depending on skills around technical delivery, solution architecture and business analysis.
  • Solution Architecture: Deep levels of technical capability with an ability to understand customer requirements, how they drive business benefit and being able to communicate clearly to customers can support a move to a Solution Architect role. This is essential to customer engagement to drive the sales process and ensure that we show the art of the possible, demonstrate capability and ensure that we meet the customer needs through scope definition.
