Business Admin Apprenticeship

What does a Business Admin Apprentice do?

What doesn’t a Business Admin Apprentice do?

This role is our ‘Nuts and Bolts’ apprenticeship. Today, those working as Business Administrators need to have a strong variety of abilities and skills.  This 15-month Business Course is a broader apprenticeship than the Customer Service course, covering communication skills and processes, and other aspects of the professional world. It suits almost all office-based roles so you may see it advertised in different ways.

You’ll find you get a balance between Customer and Business / Admin tasks. In the longer term, you could work full-time in the Customer Contact team, Warranty team, or in Finance or Sales – it really depends on your interests and skills. It may also involve working across a blend of different departments. With Business Admin under your belt you will have lots of options.

You’ll also get to earn a salary while you learn!

What do you need to be a Business Admin apprentice?

  • Apprenticeships are training courses, aimed at new starters and existing employees of any age who meet the assessment criteria for joining the apprenticeship programme in the region, typically:

Not already in full-time education.

For Business Admin at Level 3, you’ll need at least a C/4 grade or higher in GCSE Maths and English

  • Business Admin is an ideal entry-level training programme for entry into a wide range of office-based roles and careers.
  • You’ll be expected to deliver your responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – so you’ll need a positive attitude.
  • The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills – you’ll need to want to get stuck into a range of different areas and be able to show you can solve problems, that you have initiative and that you can manage your own time and priorities.
  • You’ll need commitment! You’ll need to set aside 6 hours of your working week for off-the-job training, learning and development. The assessor will guide you. General rule of thumb is 1-2 hours per week for coursework time, 1-2 hours every fortnight with the assessor, and the rest of your training will naturally build over time.
