Apprenticeships are a brilliant way to qualify in a profession for those who don’t want to go to university.
With an ACCA Apprenticeship you can earn while you learn by combining practical work experience and study. You’ll be employed in a relevant finance-related job where you’ll learn from real-life situations, get paid and study for a globally-recognised qualification, as well as gain the:
Knowledge and technical abilities needed for a rewarding career in finance – from financial analysis and tax, to auditing and digital accounting
Skills and behaviours that top employers look for
Expertise and confidence to add value to any organisation in any industry
First step on the ladder to becoming an ACCA member and future business leader.
How do ACCA Apprenticeships work?
Apprenticeships are fully funded, so there are no tuition fees to consider
and because you’ll be working, you’ll earn a salary too. Apprenticeships also
combine technical training from an external training provider with on-the-job
experience and some assessments.
Who are they for?
ACCA Apprenticeships are for everyone. They start at different levels depending on your qualifications and experience. They also work differently
in England and Scotland.
Apprenticeships in England
ACCA apprenticeships are offered at two levels in England:
ACCA Accountancy Technician Apprenticeship – Level 4: Covers the first part of the ACCA Qualification it will give you the essential finance and accounting knowledge you need to help you flourish as a technician.
ACCA Professional Accountant Apprenticeship – Level 7: This is aligned to the full ACCA Qualification. Apprentices can also go on to become an ACCA member on completion of 36 months of practical experience – some of which will be gained on the apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships in Scotland
There are three apprenticeship levels available in Scotland:
Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) in Accountancy: Available to pupils as one of their school subjects usually over fifth and sixth year it provides the opportunity to gain real experience of the world of work while still at school.
Modern Apprenticeship (MA): Accounting Technician Apprenticeship: This apprenticeship is broken down into three levels and trains apprentices to understand the structure and functions of different businesses, as well as create, verify and review accurate financial information.
Scottish Graduate Degree Apprenticeship (GA). The Graduate Apprenticeship encompasses the full ACCA qualification and is a natural progression from either the Foundation or Modern Apprenticeships. Two versions of the Graduate Apprenticeship are available.
Where can an ACCA Apprenticeship take me?
From helping charities to maximise their funding and advising clients how to best invest their finances, to becoming a senior leader for a global car, cosmetics or fashion brand, ACCA Apprenticeships build the solid foundations for a successful future. You’ll be well on your way to becoming an ACCA member too – opening up a whole host of career opportunities.
How to get started
To get started with an apprenticeship, first you need to find an employer. There are lots of employers that offer early careers or emerging talent programmes, and many of these are apprenticeships. You can find these by searching on ACCA Careers. Once you have secured a job, you can register for your apprenticeship but your employer will often do this on your behalf as part of the employee onboarding process.
