IT Service Desk Technician Apprentice

As a Managed IT Service Provider, we offer a varied range of dependable, high-quality technical support and IT solutions to our external customer base predominately centred around Microsoft cloud technologies.

Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to become a fantastic skilled IT Service Desk Technician. You’ll work closely with a great team on a busy service desk where you will grow your skills and experiment with new tools, techniques and technologies on a wide variety of networks. You'll be a key member of our team at the forefront of our technical support service.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients to promote high level of customer service.
  • Logging, prioritisation and escalation of IT support issues and requests in line with procedures and SLAs.
  • Resolution of 1st line support issues and working with senior technicians and third-party suppliers when required.
  • Routine systems administration tasks: typical issues will be faults with PC operating systems, software and hardware.
  • Administration of Microsoft 365 products including Azure AD/Entra, Exchange online, Teams, SharePoint and Intune.
  • Building and configuring PCs ready for deployment.
  • As experience is gained: issues will include backups, basic networking and cyber defences.

Desirable skills: 

We expect you to have a keen interest in computing and IT with a technical understanding of PC's and common operation. You will need to be highly organised, focused and the ability to demonstrate good technical problem-solving skills. You will have excellent communication skills, telephone manner, and have the talent to work well individually and part of a trusted team. You will need to be a punctual individual, with the ability to meet deadlines, and administration should be of the highest standard. Additionally:

  • A strong “IT know-how” of Microsoft Windows operating systems such as Windows 11.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • Knowledge and account administration of Microsoft 365 products.
  • Experience of building and troubleshooting PC hardware and software issues.

The above are examples of some knowledge you may have but are not essential to start as you will begin to learn these skills in a very short time frame with on-the-job assistance and training within the team!

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

40 hours per week.
