The second installment from our volunteer, Alice, in Ethiopia....
Yesterday, two other UK volunteers and I decided to get our hair braided, it costs the equivalent of about £3.00 max including all the extra hair! So we thought at that price if we look like fools we won’t care!
I have red hair and they do have red weave available but sadly didn’t when I wanted it! Therefore I got brunette and you can barely see the red through it! I will try and get hold of some red as I have already planned my next weave ha ha.
Since getting it done I have noticed that I have been pestered at least 50% less than I usually do! I normally have ‘white’ and ‘foreign’ shouted at me and asked for money… But not anymore, maybe they think I spent all my money on my weave?!
People do still stare at me but I really don’t mind, at least staring can be ignored! I think our weaves might be staying longer than we anticipated!
