Hi, I'm Lucas Burgess, a Project Management Apprentice at AtkinsRéalis. I work in the Transformation Delivery & Consultancy team (TDC). In my current PMO support role, I help organize project documentation and provide admin support to project managers. It's a great way to learn and apply project management principles while working alongside experienced professionals!
What has been your favourite experience?
The Away Days, where we network with diverse and talented colleagues we may not have spoken to before. They're held at inspiring venues, including Aerospace Bristol, Lord's Cricket Ground and Millennium Point Birmingham.
What is the best thing about working for AtkinsRéalis?
The inclusivity and equality within the workplace. I love that everyone is encouraged to be themselves.
What is your top tip for new apprentices?
Follow what you're passionate about – you'll gain the most if you enjoy your work. I would also say just be yourself – being fake will get you nowhere.
How do you make the most of AtkinsRéalis' flexible working culture?
I'm free to balance my work, life and study. We're encouraged to be in the office as much as we want. At the same time, everyone understands that working at home does allow for a healthier way to manage my professional and personal lives.
How is your professional development going?
I've grown significantly in the last two years on the apprentice programme. I've gained lots of AtkinsRéalis workplace and client-facing experience. I look forward to opportunities to work on many more projects and finish my degree in two years.
Your talent deserves great colleagues, projects and clients.
