Preparing To Wrap Up For The Christmas Break
1 year ago

It's almost Christmas, which means it's time to start thinking about all the things you need to get done before you can take a break from your studies and have some fun! Whether you're in school or college, there are still plenty of things you can do to make sure you're ready for the holidays. Here are some tips for what to do before the Christmas break:

Write/update your CV and Cover Letter

Write a cover letter template, so you have one ready when needed.. Even if the job description doesn't ask for one, it's always good to have one ready in case an interviewer asks for it. This can also help you highlight your skills and show why you'd be a great fit for the company.

Make sure your CV is up to date with all the relevant information from your latest experiences. You should also update it with any skills or accomplishments that relate back to the job posting or offer letter you’re interested in.

Check and double-check spelling, grammar, and formatting throughout your CV, especially on any official documents like certifications or letters of recommendation (which should be written in formal language).

If you do all of the above, you’ll be ready to start applying for positions in the New Year!

Organise your room

During your Christmas break, the last thing you’ll want to do is think about organising your room for when school, college or work starts in January. So, why not do this beforehand! You'll be less stressed out and you will be able to enjoy yourself over the holidays.

Finish your work

Make a list of all the work you need to get done and start working on it as soon as possible. If you complete this before your time off, you can spend more time with your family and friends during the break. If you have quite a lot going on, make a schedule/list so you can stay on track and not forget anything!

Self-care

It is important for all of us to take time for ourselves over the Christmas period, so make sure you look after yourself and do all the things that make you happy. It could be something simple like running a bath, putting on a face mask and listening to a podcast! Additionally, arrange some time with your friends and family, because that is what the holidays are all about.

Setting some goals for the New Year

I know it’s a cliche thing to do, but set some goals for the New Year, maybe focus it on your education and career so it keeps you motivated throughout the year. Ensure they are realistic goals and give yourself enough time to complete them. If you need any advice and tips on goal setting, read our blog.
