Hi, my name is Olivia Simpson and I recently completed a 2 week work experience programme at NGTU. During my time at NGTU, I worked with the marketing, customer success and sales departments. I chose to do my work experience at NGTU because it provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in career development.

Working with the marketing team was a great experience. I learned about their different social media platforms, how to create my own LinkedIn account and also analysed how different age groups interact with their business.
One of the most important skills I developed while working with the marketing team was independence. For example, when I get set a task I would immediately start to do it with no help needed. I think I did this because the people I was working with explained things very well to the point where I understood everything and could do my tasks independently.
When working with the customer success team, I learned how to approve and upload job roles. It was a very cool experience because I never thought I'd be doing something like that. I would often reach out to a member of the customer success team when I encountered issues when uploading job roles, they were very quick to respond and were very helpful. They provided clear and concise instructions on how to resolve the issue I had.
Working with the sales team was a cool experience. I only spent one day with the team but I still enjoyed it. My taks for that day weren't very time consuming and it wasn’t too tricky, but it helped me grow my organisational skills. The people I worked with also gave clear instructions for every task I did, which was really helpful.
During my work experience, I found that each department had a unique focus and approach. The marketing team was more focused on creating and executing campaigns to attract and retain customers. The sales team was focused on developing relationships with potential clients and closing deals.
The customer success team was focused on providing support and assistance to clients who had already purchased NGTU’s services. Despite their different focuses, all three departments work together to ensure that NGTU clients are satisfied and that the company is successful.
I learned the importance of time management and how to balance my workload between different departments. In my last week, I had to balance my time between the customer success team and the sales team. I learned to prioritise different tasks and I communicated with my colleagues and asked for help when needed.
By the end of the two weeks, I had developed stronger time management skills and was able to successfully balance my responsibilities between all teams. This experience taught me the importance of time management and effective communication in a workplace.

I won’t say no since there are many industries that value practical skills and work experience in comparison to formal education. The doors to success aren’t completely closed for you, even if you don’t have a university degree. There are still various paths to success.
