With A-Level Results Day and Clearing at the forefront, it's safe to say that August has not been quiet. In between holidays, I have been doing everything I can to make sure to contribute to hitting targets. This involved cross-team support as well as my own role and responsibilities.
Results Day calls
Throughout A Level Results Day, I was present on the phone lines to talk to prospective students about their post-18 options and the courses that are offered at Pearson College London.
This involved answering any questions about Pearson College London as well as asking students about why Pearson Business School or Escape Studios was the right choice for them.
Winmark Workshops
Winmark gives business leaders the knowledge and connections to achieve greater impact. Their professional member networks enable C-Suite executives to learn from their peers and engage in the discussions that are transforming their business environment.
I was asked to network with and escort guests to the right location within Pearson College and then was also invited to participate in the workshop. The general focus of the workshop was for Chief Legal Officers from a range of prestigious companies to brainstorm how C-suite functions will evolve over the next few years, looking specifically at the digitisation of the legal function. The attendees were from companies such as Specsavers, Civil Aviation Authority, Colt Technology, National Grid, Notonthehighstreet and many more.
This was a great way to meet C-Suite executives from a range of businesses and observe how each organisation does things differently.
University Module Deadline
August was also the month in which my university coursework was due. This was a Self-Managed Learning project, which is a module that encourages degree apprentices to research something within their workplace or industry, to solve an issue or problem by proposing solutions or recommendations after extensive research.
The title of my project was "How can we future proof our current workforce with employability skills? which allowed me to explore methods of decreasing the skills gap faced by the workforce today between university graduate skills and entry-level roles.
I managed to get my work in on time for the deadline in August; and fingers crossed, I am pleased with my grade when I get it back.
PR Coverage
In August, I have also been busy securing various articles, blogs and information pieces for Pearson Business School in particular. Firstly, I had a blog published on Get My First Job entitled Full-time Degree Programme vs Degree Apprenticeships which looked at the questions to ask yourself before deciding which university route is for you.
Another piece was with Total Jobs which looks at What is an apprenticeship? This focuses on apprenticeships in general, the levels, the industries and the types of apprenticeships that someone can do.
Finally, I did a piece for Not Going to Uni about How transferable skills can help your career looking at how you can recognise the skills that you have and apply them to something new that perhaps you did not think you had the skills for.
It's back to Pearson Business School on Fridays throughout September so busy busy busy. See you next month!
