Hi everyone, welcome to my 4th instalment of my blog series relating to everything apprenticeships. Today I will be going through tips and ways to make the most out of your apprenticeship and maximise every opportunity that comes your way!

This may sound straight forward but asking for opportunities is key in order to progress and make the most out of your apprenticeship. This is the simple case of if you don’t simply ask, then you won’t potentially receive whatever you may be seeking. Asking for opportunities is a great way of ensuring that your colleagues know you are looking for a challenge, and thus, they will be able to help you in achieving your aims and goals. With these opportunities, you’ll be able to take on new roles and responsibilities, add to your experience and obtain additional qualifications in the form of accredited short courses to aid you in your professional development which will allow you to be in a stronger position when applying to permanent roles after your apprenticeship. In summary, asking for opportunities could open doors for you which you didn’t even know could be opened. Within my role, I ensure that I am always asking for opportunities and taking on additional roles and responsibilities because you are benefiting and adding tremendous value to yourself through new skillsets and expertise.
This goes without saying, being proactive is extremely important, not only for your own professional development, but also to show your employer that you relish every opportunity which comes your way and are invested in your role. This is extremely important as companies want to see that you are going the extra mile and to an extent, repaying them for entrusting you with a great role and opportunity, while gaining a qualification with no debt and being paid. Within my role, I ensure that I am also proactive and going the extra mile, because you don’t know what will land you a permanent role at the conclusion of your apprenticeship.
