BTECS are vocational qualifications designed to aid students into either employment or University. There are three main BTEC qualifications which all fall under 'Level 3 qualification category - Higher National Diplomas (HND), Higher National Certificate (HNC) and the BTEC National Award.
BTEC National Diplomas
The BTEC National Diploma qualification is an 18-unit course preparing students into work or higher education. There are many study areas for BTEC National Diplomas and the qualification is equivalent to 3 A-Levels.
BTEC National Certificate
The BTEC National Certificate qualification is a 12-unit course focused chiefly on preparing students for vocational work. The BTEC National Certificate is equivalent to 2 A-Levels.
BTEC National Award
The BTEC National Award qualification is a 6-unit course which specialises in aiding students on different aspects of employment. The qualifications themselves may lead to other BTEC qualifications, employment or foundation degrees. The BTEC National Award is roughly equivalent to 1 A-Level.
