Cilex Appoints New Editor

Jon Robins has been appointed as editor of the CILEx Journal, themonthlymembership magazine of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).

The CILEx Journal has previously won ‘Best Magazine for Professional Association/Royal College’ at the annual MemCom awards, which recognise excellence in communications by membership bodies.

Jon, who has written for many years asfreelance for theGuardian,ObserverandTimeson law and consumer issues, replaces Neil Rose who has filled the editor role for six years. Neil will now focus on his own projects, such as Legal Futures.

CILEx Chief Executive Diane Burleigh OBE said: “We are delighted to welcome Jon on board. He will no doubt bring new ideas and views for the magazine, and are excited to see how he can take the CILEx Journal forward to even greater heights.” She also paid tribute to the great contribution that Neil Rose made during his editorship.

Jonhas been writingfor the national and specialist press for over 15 years. He runswww.thejusticegap.com, an online magazine about the law aimed at the public. Jonhaswritten several books includingThe Justice Gap: whatever happened to legal aid?(with Steve Hynes),A Parent's Guide to the Law(LawPack, 2010) andPeople Power: How to run a campaign(LawPack/ Daily Telegraph, 2008).

Jon is director of the specialist legal research company Jures. He is also a visiting senior fellow in access to justice at the University of Lincoln, a patron of Hackney Community Law Centre and is on the advisory committee for the new Centre for Criminal Appeals.

Jon joined the CILEx editorial team on 1 July 2013.
