As the leading apprenticeship provider within a £13.5bn strong industry the BPIF recognises the importance in giving the youth of the printing industry a voice. This is why we have founded an Apprentice Council to ensure that apprentices from all over the UK have the opportunity to shape the delivery of their training programmes and add their voice to industry debate. Apprentices are the future of the industry, and this is why we are entirely committed to ensuring vocational qualifications are considered equal to university degrees.
The council will provide a platform for our apprentices to express their views on the industry and make clear their needs. This will all feed into the BPIF's schools programme - in which we aim to attract more school leavers into the industry. Council members will offer the BPIF valuable insight into the needs and expectations of the industry’s future leaders.
This initiative is supported by the Printing Charity who are generously covering the travel expenses of the council members, and Duplo who have kindly hosted the inaugural meeting at their London Calling exhibition in November. The BPIF Apprentice Council will meet twice a year headed by a Chairman with a representative from each of the 6 BPIF regions who are all currently undertaking an apprenticeship with the BPIF.
