Earlier this year Loughborough College and the National Space Centre announced the launch of a brand new Higher Apprenticeship in Space Engineering from September 2013. The country wide programme is a uniquely designed to provide the UK Space Engineering industry with highly skilled personnel and offers degree-level work based training.
The Space Engineering industry is currently worth around £9.1 billion annually to the UK economy and is growing at a rate of 7.5% year on year. It is hoped that the Higher Apprenticeship in Space Engineering will help to sustain this growth as consultation with the industry has shown that there is a need for new entrants to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the sector.
