BJS Company Ltd offers precision electroplating, precision electroforming, high quality silversmithing and sophisticated assembly of electroforms for industrial application. Apprenticeship opportunity to help the company’s Head Engineer maintain equipment as well as setting and operating CNC milling machines and other metal cutting equipment.

This role is to assist the company’s Head Engineer maintain manufacturing equipment, as well as setting and operating CNC milling machines and other metal cutting pieces of equipment.

BJS Company principally offers precision electroplating, precision electroforming and sophisticated assembly of electroforms for industrial application. Established over 80 years ago, BJS Company has held an exclusive Royal Warrant from HM Queen Elizabeth II and now from HM The King for 34 years. The company operates an ISO9001 quality management system through the British Standards Institute.

All BJS electroplating and electroforming services are computer controlled, with its products being used in many varied industries ranging from sporting trophies and props for major block buster films including the Harry Potter series, many James Bond and Mission Impossible films as well as in Batman. Industrial items include electrical contacts, F1 car development, turbo charger manufacturers, and heat exchangers for the biotech industry, where quality and consistency from batch-to-batch and from year-to-year are essential.

Objectives of the role:

  • Assisting and learning all aspects of engineering carried out within the company, as well as helping to maintain, set up and operate CNC milling machines and other metal cutting equipment.
  • The work is helping to make low numbers of high-quality parts and is therefore far less intense than a highly pressurised production line. This is a great place to learn all aspects of manufacturing metal components and would suit someone with an eye for detail who wants to work in a small, calm and friendly team.

Entry requirements

HRUC will only consider those applicants that have already achieved GSCE at Grade 9-4/A-C Including Maths and English or the equivalent.

Also desired by the company: Minimum 2 A Levels - pass grades 4/C or above

Training to be provided

Apprentice will be required to attend college at least x1 day per week at Uxbridge Campus completing necessary mandatory training and units associated with the apprenticeship.

The apprentice will be required to complete:

•                  Work towards gaining a full Qualification.

•                  Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

•                  Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours.

•                  Standard and End Point Assessment.

•                  Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT (if required).

Other training will be provided by the employer as required to enable the fulfilment of the job role.
