ATT Trainee role
An ATT trainee role offers you the chance to earn whilst studying for a professional qualification without incurring any student debt. You will be studying towards the Level 4 Professional Taxation Apprenticeship, and once you have successfully completed all modules of this qualification, this will earn you the right to become a member of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT).
Providing you receive first-time passes at ATT level, and subject to your performance both at college and in the office, we will discuss with you the possibility in supporting you through your Chartered Tax Advisor qualification (CTA) as the next stage of learning.

Job Description
The ATT trainee will support the Private Client team to deliver an excellent service to our clients. The wider team will support you in your development and guide you. You will gain a solid understanding of personal tax compliance, a grounding which prepares you well for further study in the taxation profession.
Specific responsibilities:
• Preparing and submitting personal tax returns, dealing with HMRC correspondence and calculating tax liabilities.
• Assisting with research on tax planning, including inheritance tax, capital gains tax and trusts.
• Responding to HMRC correspondence and assisting with enquiries.
• Drafting correspondence to clients, and other third parties to assist with tax compliance.
• Ensure all work adheres to relevant legislation and professional standards.
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
• Be educated to A level or higher with a strong academic background.
• Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in taxation, and be committed and motivated to studying towards the ATT, with a potential view to continue on to study towards the CTA.
• Have a desire to learn and develop, and contribute positively to the team.
• Have excellent attention to detail.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload.
Strong IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Excel and ability to touch type are desirable, although training will be provided.
Our environment
Your working week will be Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. We offer flexible working with core hours of 10.30am to 4.30pm (3.30pm on Friday), to promote wellbeing and enable you, bearing in mind commercial needs, to start early or finish late. Our standard office hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm and we expect you to be office based at least 60% of the week. You will be entitled to 22 days annual leave together with all bank holidays. Should a course clash with a bank holiday, you will be entitled to a day of time off in lieu. The office closes over the Christmas break and you will be asked to save 3 or 4 days holiday to cover the closure from Christmas Eve to the New Year.
You will qualify and be auto-enrolled in our NEST pension scheme, currently the firm pay an enhanced contribution of 6% of your qualifying earnings, and you must pay a minimum of 2%. If you elect to opt out, we are flexible and the same contribution is available to be paid into your personal pension scheme.
