Apprenticeships are a great way to gain professional qualifications, develop your skills and experience the workplace. What apprenticeships are available in the RAF?

The RAF have 23 different apprenticeship roles, these include aviation operations, engineering, hospitality & catering and IT. The training you will receive as an RAF apprentice is award winning, here are just a few of the awards the RAF have won for their apprenticeship programmes:

What different levels of apprenticeship do the RAF offer?

The range of qualifications you can earn in the RAF range from a level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), a level 3 (equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels) all the way through to a level 7, which is equivalent to a Masters degree. You can read more about the different levels of apprenticeship here.

What are the benefits of joining the RAF as an apprentice?

As an RAF apprentice, you will earn a minimum of £17,835 per year by the end of your first year as an apprentice. In addition to this, you will be entitled to a range of benefits including holiday pay, sick pay and a competitive pension scheme.

Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn about different areas and specialisms within various industries. How do I apply for an apprenticeship position with the RAF?

You can apply for an RAF apprenticeship on the NGTU website. You will then be invited to undergo aptitude tests, medical, fitness tests and an interview. If you are selected to join the RAF, you will then begin your apprenticeship, starting with your secondary (role)  training.
