Notgoingtouni.co.uk have created an online Distance Learning Guide which aims to show young people that there are alternative routes to obtaining a degree and other valuable qualifications which can be studied at their own pace and around their lifestyle.
University is not the right option for everyone and the majority of school and college leavers are not properly informed about the alternative options to the traditional university route. With UCAS predicting over 200,000 students not getting a place at university this September and these numbers looking set to continue to rise plus the average student debt already reaching £20,000 taking an average of 11 years to pay off its time to look at the alternatives.
Distance learning is a much cheaper way to achieve a degree than full time campus based study and in some cases you can even graduate debt free. The flexibility you get with distance learning is one of the main benefits as it allows you to balance studying with work and other lifestyle commitments. A statistic released by the Open University shows that 70% of their students work and study for a degree at the same time.
Our online guide to distance learning includes a section where a wide range of frequently asked questions are answered as well as interesting facts on distance learning. It also includes a list of the main distance learning providers and Not Going To Uni's top 10 providers. Another key feature of the guide is the case studies from people who chose to take the distance learning route. These include a:
- Kaplan distance learning student
- Level 3 NVQ in personal training with Lifetime health and fitness
- HND travel and tourism management with RDI
- BA (Honours) business top-up with RDI
